Keen Company Announces the Cast for A.R. Gurney's THE OLD BOY

The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Keen Company today announced the cast for their production of the newly revised version of A.R. Gurney's 1991 play, The Old Boy, Performances of this Off-Broadway Limited Engagement begin February 12th and continue through March 24th only. Opening Night is set for Tuesday, March 5th at 7pm.

Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein (The Temperamentals and Keen's Marry Me a Little and The Dining Room) directs a cast that features Marsha Dietlein Bennett (Woman in Mind with Helen Mirren [LA], Fitzgerald's Family Christmas [film]), Cary Donaldson (Mrs. Warren's Profession [Roundabout], Timon of Athens [Public]), Chris Dwan (Campus Life [film], Lord of the Flies [Barrington Stage]), Laura Esterman (Marvin's Room [Drama Desk, Obie Awards], Metamorphosis on Broadway with Mikhail Baryshnikov, Keen's Outward Bound; The Green [film]), Peter Rini (Neil Simon's Proposals, TV: "Blue Bloods," "Smash"), and Hal Robinson (Cabaret, Grand Hotel, Keen's I Never Sang for My Father). The Old Boy will have scenic design by Steven Kemp, costume design by Jennifer Paar, lighting design by Josh Bradford, and sound design and original music by Ryan Rumery.

From the author of the acclaimed hits Love Letters, Sylvia and Keen's award-winning The Dining Room, comes the story of a successful politician who returns to his elite prep school to dedicate a building to his best friend, only to discover he may have been responsible for his death. Chosen by Time Magazine as one of the year's 10 Best Plays for 1991, The Old Boy traces the conflict between old and new American values and having the courage to change. "As powerful as anything this playwright has written" declared the New York Times. The Hollywood Reporter added "a beautifully structured, fleshed out drama that reminds us what compassion and morals are all about."

"I am delighted to again be working with A.R. Gurney. I had the privilege of directing The Dining Room for Keen several years ago. It was a magical experience, which earned my cast a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble. The Old Boy continues my own interest in the stories of outsiders trying to find their place in the world. I am also honored and excited to work with Mr. Gurney on his newly revised version of this beautiful play (or, as Mr. Gurney described it, 'a favorite but somewhat neglected child')," said Keen Artistic Director Jonathan Silverstein.

Performances will be at The Clurman Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues) and will be Tuesdays at 7pm; Wednesday through Friday at 8pm; Saturdays at 2pm & 8pm; and Sunday matinees at 3pm. Tickets will be $62.50 for The Old Boy (including a $1.25 Restoration Fee) and may be purchased online at Telecharge.com or by phone at 212/239-6200 or in person at the Theatre Row Box Office.
