Kearran Giovanni to Star in TNT's MAJOR CRIMES

As first reported on Deadline.com, actress Kearran Giovanni will be co-starring in the upcoming TNT series MAJOR CRIMES, a spin-off of the cable network's popular series 'The Closer'. The series marks Giovanni's first regular role on a primetime TV show. The actress had previously appeared as Dr. Vivian Wright on the daytime soap opera 'One Life to Live'. 

Giovanni will portray Detective Amy Skyes, described as "an ambitious undercover police detective and military veteran who served in Afghanistan." Many of the cast members from 'The Closer' will continue their roles on 'Major Crimes' including Mary McDonnell, G.W. Bailey, Tony Denison, Michael Paul Chan, Raymond Cruz and Phillip P. Keene. Robert Gossett, Jon Tenney and Jonathan Del Arco are already lined up to guest star on the upcoming series. MAJOR CRIMES will premiere one week after 'The Closer's final episode airs this summer.  

Giovanni has appeared on Broadway in Hugh Jackman's 'Back on Broadway', 'Catch Me if You Can' 'Guys and Dolls' and 'Sweet Charity'. 

In other casting announcements, Deadline reports that actor comedIan Hayes MacArthur has been cast in Fox's upcoming pilot 'Rebounding' about "a man recovering from the death of his fiancé with the help of the idiots on his pickup basketball team, one of them played by MacArthur."  In addition, Sophia Bush, star of the CW drama 'One Tree Hill' will star in the CBS pilot 'Partners' which " centers on two lifelong friends and business partners — one straight and one gay. Bush will play the straight guy’s girlfriend." James Burrows will direct the project.
