Kate Shindle In Concert At The Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center

By:

The Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center brings in a local gal from the deep south (of New Jersey). Stepping out in a sexy red dress, of course, Kate seems happy to present her classic/jazz/blues show “for the first time in New Jersey”, she adds, to a warm reception in the heart of Marlton.

Opening with “See What I Wanna See” from that same titled show then “Cry Me A River”, Shindle entertains the crowd with comments about dating, growing up Catholic and not particularly fond of anyone in the political scene at the present.

But then this is pretty much the norm for this 1999 Miss America who shocked the country with her uniquely styled swimsuit appearance and surprising platform on AIDS Awareness during the famous pageant. Remember this was in 1999.  Kate is still a steadfast supporter of this cause speaking and raising money across the country.

Kate Shindle has appeared on Broadway in Jekyll & Hyde (Lucy), Cabaret (Sally Bowles), and most recently starred as Vivienne Kensington in Legally Blonde. Shindle has also been part several regional shows, TV and films. www.kateshindle.com

Kate is joined by her dapper and quite impressive band, Thomas Hubbard on bass, Ray Marchica on drums and musical director and pianist John McDaniel, whose credits include 2 Emmy Awards and a Grammy.

McDaniel also joins Shindle in a duet of “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again” and “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” as she highlights songs from the 70’s and 80’s.

Kate shows off several facets of her musical abilities from Sondheim’s catchy “Uptown/Downtown” to the sad and sultry “Guess Who I Saw Today” and “What’ll I Do”.  She tops off the evening of this 60 minuet nonstop treat with perhaps a lesser known Ray Charles song called “ I’ll Drown in My Tears” and ends with the mother of all blues song “Blues in the Night” and “At Last” as an encore.

Kate Shindle in Concert - was presented at the Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center, Marlton, New Jersey. For tickets and more information about the rest of their season, that will include Big Brass, Doo Wop and a Holiday Show with Broadway’s Linda Eder, visit www.sjtheater.com or call 856.983.3366.
