"Sex is in the Heel," a new single remix by Grammy® Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper, composer of the new Broadway-bound musical Kinky Boots, has hit the Top Ten (#6) position on the Billboard Dance/Club Play Top 200 chart this week. The energetic love letter to fancy footwear, which shares the Top Ten this week with Madonna, Usher and the Scissor Sisters, is the first single from a Broadway show to top the dance charts in more than 25 years.

A free download of the chart-climbing "Sex is in the Heel" remix is available on the Kinky Boots website, www.kinkybootsthemusical.com. "Sex is in the Heel" is performed by Billy Porter's character Lola in Act I of Kinky Boots.

On Thursday, September 6, as part of this year's Fashion's Night Out, Cyndi Lauper will introduce a special performance of "Sex is in the Heel" by the cast of Kinky Boots at the Manolo Blahnik boutique (31 W 54th Street).

Inspired by a true story and based on the film, Kinky Boots features a warm and witty book by four-time Tony® Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage, Torch Song Trilogy, Newsies) and a richly diverse musical score from Ms. Lauper, in her stunning theatrical debut.

In Kinky Boots, Charlie Price has suddenly inherited his father's shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father's legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola. A fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos, Lola turns out to be the one person who can help Charlie become the man he's meant to be. As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible… and discovers that when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world.
