KELLY & LINDSEY DO NEW YORK Debuts at 12th Annual MITF

By:

Known for their raunchy humor, unbelievable (yet true) dating escapades and unique conjugations for the word "penis," Kelly Wallace-Barnhill and Lindsey Gentile take their one-hour comedic play to the 12th Annual Midtown International Theater Festival, taking place July 17 - 31 at The Jewel Box Theater (312 W. 36th St., 4th floor). This non-lesbian love story, also known as Kelly & Lindsey Do New York, features sketches, videos and an acute sense of discomfort.

"We're two attractive 20-somethings with a little bit of baggage who can't seem to find a decent eligible bastard living in New York City," said Lindsey. "Our ridiculous, yet true life stories about Craigslist crazies, dude-bro douche bags, and that guy who won't stop exposing himself on the A train, will truly shock audiences. Please don't bring your kids, please."

Kelly and Lindsey began performing together in 2009 after meeting and falling in love at an Upright Citizens Brigade improv class. This racy duo has built a loyal following of fellow comedians and stalkers with their twice monthly stand-up and sketch show called Back Door Comedy in the East Village.

"We are like Lucy and Ethel meets Ren and Stimpy," added Kelly. "Our show is a crazy, exaggerated reality of our real lives, dealing with dating, relationships, friendships, and sex. We are so excited to be a part of the Midtown International Theater Festival and can't wait to unveil our latest comedic play."

Kelly & Lindsey Do New York is an Equity Approved Showcase written, produced and performed by  Kelly Wallace-Barnhill and Lindsey Gentile and directed by Ross Evans. Tickets are available for $18 and $15 at www.midtownfestival.com or call 866-811-4111. The Midtown International Theatre Festival, now in its twelfth year, celebrates the diversity of theatre. The MITF welcomes theatrical storytelling across a broad spectrum of genres, forms, identities, cultures, and appetites. The MITF seeks to nurture these new ideas, perspectives, and stories on its stages, with an eye set on guiding these productions toward future success and longevity. The festival, traditionally held in summer, represents a fantastic, often paradoxical, adventurous and intriguing cross-section of the forefront of the Theatre World. The MITF proudly hosts production companies from across the country and around the globe, uniting talent in one of the biggest theatre capitals in the world. John Chatterton created the MITF in 2000, a Midtown alternative to other theatre festivals, as a way to present the finest off-off Broadway talent in convenience, comfort, and safety. In 2008, the Festival added two 99-seat theatres and inaugurated the Commercial Division for upwardly mobile shows with commercial ambitions.
