Justin Kirk to Join Cast of OTHER DESERT CITIES Today

Justin-Kirk-to-Join-Cast-of-OTHER-DESERT-CITIES-20010101

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director, and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) welcomes Justin Kirk to the role of Trip Wyeth in its critically acclaimed production of OTHER DESERT CITIES, a new play by Jon Robin Baitz, directed by Joe Mantello.

Mr. Kirk replaces Thomas Sadoski who played the role through Sunday, January 8.

Justin Kirk is an Obie Award winner for his performance in Love! Valour! Compassion! (in which he co-starred both on Broadway and its original off-Broadway production). He last appeared at Lincoln Center Theater in Jon Robin Baitz’s Ten Unknowns, for which he won a Lucille Lortel Award and garnered Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations. His other stage credits include The Understudy opposite Mark Paul Gosselaar and Julie White, The World Over at Playwrights Horizons, the Broadway production of Any Given Day and the off-Broadway productions of Old Wicked Songs and June Moon with the Drama Department, of which he was a founding member. Mr. Kirk is well known to television audiences for his portrayal of Andy Botwin on Showtime’s acclaimed series Weeds, and in the web series, The University of Andy. He received Emmy and Screen Actors Guild nominations for his performance as Prior Walter in Mike Nichols HBO adaptation of Angels in America. His other television credits include a recurring role on ABC’s Modern Family and a regular role on Jack & Jill. His films include Love! Valour! Compassion!, Against the Current, Puccini for Beginners, Four Boxes, Flannel Pajamas and Wasps. His latest films, Goats, in which he stars opposite David Duchovny and Vera Farmiga and Nobody Walks, in which he stars opposite John Krasinski and Olivia Thirlby, will both premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2012. Currently Mr. Kirk is in Europe filming the new film Mr. Morgan’s Last Love, in which he stars opposite Michael Caine and Clemence Posey.

Currently starring Stockard Channing, Rachel Griffiths, Stacy Keach, Judith Light and Mr. Sadoski, OTHER DESERT CITIES has sets by John Lee Beatty, costumes by David Zinn, lighting by Kenneth Posner, sound by Jill BC DuBoff and original music by Justin Ellington. LCT gratefully acknowledges that Ms. Griffiths appears in Other Desert Cities with the permission of Actors Equity Association.

In Other Desert Cities, Brooke Wyeth a once promising novelist, returns home after a six-year absence to celebrate Christmas in Palm Springs with her parents, former members of the Reagan inner-circle, her brother and her aunt. When Brooke announces that she is about to publish a memoir focusing on an explosive chapter in the family’s history, the holiday reunion is thrown into turmoil and the Wyeths are both bound together and torn apart as they struggle to come to terms with their past.
