Julian Sands Set for Yale Center for British Art's A CELEBRATION OF HAROLD PINTER, Sept 27
The Yale Center for British Art has announced that acclaimed British actor Julian Sands will perform in A Celebration of Harold Pinter on Thursday, September 27 at 6 pm.
With personal anecdotes and reflections drawn from their work together, Julian Sands combines Harold Pinter’s poems and political prose to offer fresh insight into the Nobel laureate’s literary legacy. Directed by John Malkovich, this rich performance of readings of some of Pinter’s most intimate work offers interesting observations into his creative process.
In a brief talkback following the performance, the actor, joined by Margaret Spillane, Lecturer in English at Yale and contributor to The Nation, will exchange ideas on theater and the visual arts. Admission is free, but registration is required. Call 203 627 2001 or e-mail ycba.programs@yale.edu.
On Tuesday, September 25, a screening of one of Sands’ best-known films, A Room With A View, will take place at the Whitney Humanities Center, 53 Wall Street at 7 pm, and will be followed by a discussion with the actor.
Presented to the university by Paul Mellon, the Yale Center for British Art houses the largest and most comprehensive collection of British art outside the United Kingdom. The collections reflect the development of British art, life, and thought from the Elizabethan period onward. The Center offers a year-round schedule of exhibitions and educational programs, as well as numerous academic resources. One of the museum’s greatest treasures is the building itself. Opened in 1977, the Center was designed by internationally acclaimed American architect Louis I. Kahn.
