Jovan Olague On Board at NCTC as Casting Director
The New Conservatory Theater Center (NCTC), in San Francisco, is pleased to announce the addition to their staff of Jovan Olague, noted Bay Area producer, director and production stage manager, as casting director, effective September 1, 2008.
As a long-standing core member of the NCTC staff, Olague has been production stage manager for many of the company's acclaimed productions, including Mambo Italiano, directed by George Maguire; Drunk with Love, a world premiere, starring nightclub singer and recording star Terese Genecco; NCTC's production of the Tony Award-winning Take Me Out, directed by Ed Decker, World Premiere Commissioned Production, Crucifixion, written by Terrence McNally and also directed by Decker, and a special fund-raiser, starring Tony Winner Bill Irwin. Despite his youth, Olague has enjoyed a career of exceptional breadth and diversity, working with such notable artists as actress Hope Alexander ("The Princess Diaries," "Georgia Rule"); actor Tony Amendola ("Stargate SG-1," "Blow"); producer Tom Schumacher (Disney Theatricals); director Jules Aaron ("Great Expectations, the Musical"); actor/singer/songwriter/producer James Allen Brewer (Doonesbury's "Jimmy Thudpucker" and producer of "Simply Sondheim - A 75th Birthday Salute") and singer/actress Amy Dondy ("Wish on the Moon").
Olague was as a key member of the A-J Productions team that created "Simply Sondheim - A 75th Birthday Salute," San Francisco's legendary 2005 concert tribute to iconic composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim, now a critically acclaimed double-CD on the Kritzerland label.
Olague's other credits include work with The Summer Repertory Theatre Company; Whittier Center Theatre; The Magic Theatre; Shannon Center for the Arts; Brava Theatre; Ray of Light Theatre and McCoy-Rigby Entertainment, to name but a few.
The New Conservatory Theatre Center (NCTC) is a non-profit, community-based regional theatre company and teaching facility, presenting professional-level productions at its 25 Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, complex, which houses three performance spaces and a conservatory. The conservatory offers a full training program taught by an impressive roster of highly-qualified professionals.
NCTC's 2008-2009 "Pride Season" begins with the World Premiere of Tom W. Kelly's Friends Are Forever (August 16th - September 21st); followed by the Bay Area premiere of The History Boys (September 19th - October 26th); Douglas Carter Beane's As Bees in Honey Drown (November 7th - December 21st); the Bay Area premiere of Zanna Don't (December 5, 2008 - January 18, 2009); Tennessee in the Summer (January 23rd - March 1st); the Bay Area premiere of Act a Lady (March 20th - April 26th); An as-yet-un-announced NCTC-commissioned world premiere; Blind Faith (March 27th - May 3rd) and the West Coast premiere of Terrence McNally's Some Men (May 29th - July 12th).
