As just announced today, John Mahoney, Rondi Reed and Thomas J. Cox are set to star in the Northlight Theatre world premiere of The Outgoing Tide written by Bruce Graham, directed by Artistic Director BJ Jones. The Outgoing Tide runs May 12-June 19, 2011. The press opening is Saturday May 21, 2011.

Mahoney co-starred as The Old Man in the Broadway revival of the play Prelude to a Kiss at the American Airlines Theater in a limited-run engagement in 2007.

Reed has starred on Broadway in The Rise and Fall of Little Voice and The Grapes of Wrath, among others. Beginning July 13, 2005, she originated the role of Madame Morrible in the Chicago production of the musical Wicked. She departed the production May 8, 2007 and was replaced by Barbara Robertson. She then originated the role of Mattie Fae Aiken in the Broadway production of August: Osage County for which she won the Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play.

In a summer cottage on Chesapeake Bay, Gunner has hatched an unorthodox plan to secure his family's future but meets with resistance from his wife and son, who have plans of their own. As winter approaches, the three must quickly find common ground and come to an understanding-before the tide goes out. This new drama, featuring Northlight favorite John Mahoney, hums with dark humor and powerful emotion. The Outgoing Tide is the recipient of a 2010 Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award.
