Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jeremy Blocker, Managing Director) announced today that Green Day's American Idiot star John Gallagher, Jr, aka Johnny Gallagher (www.myspace.com/johnnygallagher), will headline a benefit concert on Sunday, July 18 at 8:00pm to support Ars Nova's first ever 54/10 Music Marathon (July 13 - 24), a summer concert series featuring two weeks of dynamic, up-and-coming bands that will surprise, shock and rock you.
The evening will offer an up-close "behind the music" style acoustic evening with the Tony Award Winning star, who returns to the very stage where he first debuted as a singer/songwriter in 2004. Pop/Hip Hop duo Fran Sancisco (American Idiot cast members Brian Johnson and Chase Peacock) will open the evening.

John Gallagher Jr. is currently starring as Johnny in American Idiot and was last seen on Broadway in Spring Awakening, for which he won the 2007 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical and received Drama Desk and Drama League nominations. Prior to that, he appeared in David Lindsay-Abaire's Pulitzer Prize-winning play Rabbit Hole. Off-Broadway: Spring Awakening, Port Authority and Farragut North at Atlantic Theater Company; Current Events and Kimberly Akimbo at MTC. Other theatre: Fuddy Meers in London's West End. TV: all three Law & Orders, The West Wing. Film: Pieces of April, Woody Allen's Whatever Works, Kenneth Lonergan's Margaret and the upcoming Jonah Hex. John is also a singer-songwriter and plays regularly in New York.
All benefit tickets are $75, which includes an open bar and invitation to a private afterparty with the concert cast, in the exclusive Ars Nova Loft. DJ Theocracy (aka American Idiot's own Theo Stockman) will spin.
As previously announced, tickets to all other 54/10 Music Marathon shows are $10 and a Marathon Pass for admission to every concert is available for $50 (a $50 savings). Doors are at 7:30 every night and sets begin at 8:00pm. Tickets are available in advance at www.arsnovanyc.com, or at the door beginning at 7:30 on the day of the show (subject to availability and cash only). Audiences can get a free drink at each show by visiting www.arsnovanyc.com and joining Super Nova, Ars Nova's free fan group.
