John Lithgow Joins Cast of LOVE IS STRANGE
Deadline reports that John Lithgow will replace actor Michael Gambon in Ira Sachs' upcoming drama LOVE IS STRANGE. Alfred Molina co-stars in the film scheduled to begin production in New York City next month.
LOVE IS STRANGE tells the story of a recently-wed gay couple whose honeymoon turns upside down when events cause them to separate. According to the site, "when George (Molina) loses his job, his partner of 38 years, painter Ben (Lithgow), moves in with his nephew and George with the gay cops next door."
In a statement, Lithgow commented, "We'll be playing the main roles in the best script I've read in years. A vivid portrait of marriage, with all its joy, folly, and occasional heartbreak."
Lithgow won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role in the fourth season of Showtime's Dexter. His upcoming projects include The Homesman and the TV series Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. Past screen credits include This Is 40, The Campaign, New Year's Eve, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Leap Year, the TV series Twenty Good Years, Dreamgirls, Kinsey, The Life and Death of Peter Sellars, TV's 3rd Rock from the Sun, and Shrek.
Lithgow has appeared on Broadway in The Columnist, All My Sons, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Retreat from Moscow, The Play What I Wrote, Sweet Smell of Success, M. Butterfly, The Front Page, Requiem for a Heavyweight, Beyond Therapy, Division Street, Bedroom Farce, Spokesong, Anna Christie, Comedians, Secret Service, Trelawny of the "Wells", My Fat Friend and The Changing Room, as well as The Magistrate in the West End.
