Joe Iconis Presents 'Mamma, Cut Me Deeper!' Feb.29 at Beechman
On February 29, Backstage Bistro Award Winner Joe Iconis will perform on the Laurie Beechman stage as part of the SPOTLIGHT Cabaret.
"From the damaged mind and bloody heart of Joe Iconis comes Mamma, Cut Me Deeper!, a misbehaved and bizarrely intimate evening of Joe's musical theater rock'n'roll songs. Join Joe and his trouble-making friends for this rare concert that will feature fresh versions of classic tunes, a whole bunch of brand new songs, and some insights and stories about why things fell apart and how the mule put himself back together again. Mamma, Cut Me Deeper! promises to prove that sometimes, to fully understand what makes a young man tick, you've got to crack his head wide open," describe press notes.
In addition to Iconis, the evening will feature Katrina Rose Dideriksen (Jerry Springer The Opera at Carnegie Hall), Matt Hinkley, Jared Weiss, Jason "SweetTooth" Williams, and Liz Lark Brown of the Kissin' Kazoo Sisters; Brent Stranathan and Ian Kagey round out the band. The night is directed by John Simpkins. Show time is 8 PM.
The SPOTLIGHT Cabaret series, which seeks to showcase the talents of rising performers and writers, will be seen at the Beechman monthly through May. Future guest writers will include Julianne Wick Davis (directed by Joe Barros), Kirsten A. Guenther (directed by Ryan Mekenian), and Danny Larsen (directed by Michelle Eliot). Laurence O'Keefe, Katie Thompson, The Dreams, and GuyTunes are among the list of those set to appear throughout the inaugural season.
