Jim Brickman Comes To The Van Wezel 4/9

By:

On Saturday, April 9, at 8 p.m. meet the man who revolutionized the sound of solo piano with his pop-style instrumentals and star studded vocal collaborations, when Jim Brickman plays the Van Wezel.

Since the release of his debut album No Words in 1994, Jim Brickman's romantic piano sound has made him the best selling solo piano artist of our time. His signature style of playing and songwriting has brought him two Grammy nods, six Gold and Platinum albums, and 28 charted adult radio hits. Jim received top honors with two SESAC "Songwriter of the Year" awards, a Canadian Country Music Award and a Dove Award presented by the Gospel Music Association. The most charted Adult Contemporary artist of the decade got his start writing commercial jingles for such advertisers as McDonald's, Pontiac and Kellogg's. Now his best-known compositions include the chart-toppers "Valentine," "The Gift," "Love of My Life," "Simple Things" and "Peace." Jim has established a reputation for his collaborations with many gifted musical artists including: Martina McBride, Gerald Levert, Lady Antebellum, Matt Giraud, Michael W. Smith, Kenny Loggins, Carly Simon, Herb Alpert, Collin Raye, Michael Bolton, Sara Evans, Donny Osmond, Olivia Newton-John, and four American Idol Finalists. Brickman's October 2010 release, Home features an eclectic group of artists including American Idols Matt Giraud, award-winning country singer Ty Herndon, Australian pop singer Delta Goodrem, HLN Morning Express host Robin Meade and fan favorite Mark Masri. Jim has taped four PBS concert specials: Jim Brickman at the Magic Kingdom-The Disney Songbook (2005), My Romance, An Evening with Jim Brickman (2000), Love Songs and Lullabies (2002) and Beautiful World (2009) and produced several Christmas-themed albums including Peace (2003), Christmas Romance (2006), Homecoming (2007), and The Hymns and Carols of Christmas (2008). Two of his albums, Grace (2005) and Faith (2008), concentrate on arrangements of well-known Christian music. Brickman writes a variety of music and works with artists in many genres. Besides his piano compositions and love songs, he has also created arrangements of existing songs and several of his albums feature arrangements of children's music.
