The Broadway hit Jersey Boys, winner of the 2006 Best Musical Tony Award about Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, has set a new house record at the August Wilson Theatre, marking the 19th time the show has topped itself since it opened in November, 2005. The gross for the record-breaking week ending November 26 was $1,182,601.00 (please note, this was an 8-performance week).
Jersey Boys, the winner of four 2006 Tony Awards, is written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe, and is directed by two-time Tony Award-winner Des McAnuff and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo.
The musical "is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi, about a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks who became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide - all before they were thirty."
Jersey Boys opened to critical acclaim at the August Wilson Theatre on November 6, 2005. The national tour begins December 1 (opening December 10) at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco.
The cast recording available now on Rhino Records.
