Earlier this month on 'American Idol' pint-sized powerhouse Jessica Sanchez wowed the judges with her performance of 'And I'm Telling You,' but they weren't the only ones who were impressed. Original 'Effie' Jennifer Holliday wrote on her Twitter page immediately following the performance: 'Yes, I was at home watching when Jessica Sang My Song 2Nite.. My Heart was beating fast &I was overwhelmed! So PROUD!'
Now there is talk that there is a duet in the works between the two songstresses- possibly on tonight's 'American Idol' finale. Holliady tweeted: '@JSanchezAI11 Good morning sweet Jessica! My heart is filled with overwhelming joy! It is a miracle from God that you & I will meet sing together!
Holliday made her Broadway debut in YOUR ARMS TOO SHORT TO BOX WITH GOD at the age of 19. After winning a Tony at the age of 21 for DREAMGIRLS, Holliday performed in GREASE and CHICAGO. She has made a singing career, off Broadway, with eight albums and two Grammy awards.
