Jennifer Holliday, the original Effie in Broadway's Dreamgirls, previously announced on her Twitter account that she would be duetting with Top 2 finalist, Jessica Sanchez on the season finale of AMERICAN IDOL tonight.
Tweeted Holliday: HAPPY 2 ANNOUNCE: Jennifer Holliday & Jessica Sanchez WILL SING A DUET 4 THE "AMERICAN IDOL SEASON FINALE"- WED.,MAY 23RD ON FOX TV @8:00PM
Holliday also posted a photo of herself with Sanchez during a rehearsal for the upcoming show.
Earlier this month on 'American Idol' pint-sized powerhouse Sanchez wowed the judges with her performance of 'And I'm Telling You,' but they weren't the only ones who were impressed. Holliday wrote on her Twitter page immediately following the performance: 'Yes, I was at home watching when Jessica Sang My Song 2Nite.. My Heart was beating fast &I was overwhelmed! So PROUD!'
Holliday made her Broadway debut in YOUR ARMS TOO SHORT TO BOX WITH GOD at the age of 19. After winning a Tony at the age of 21 for DREAMGIRLS, Holliday performed in GREASE and CHICAGO. She has made a singing career, off Broadway, with eight albums and two Grammy awards.
