Jason Robert Brown Launches Australian Tour,2/28

According to StageWhispers.com, Broadway composer Jason Robert Brown is set to tour Australia in February/March 2011. Performances will take place in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth. Australian star Rachael Beck will join Brown throughout the length of the tour.

Producer, Jeremy Youett said oF Browns tour: "It's a thrill to be bringing one of the worlds most acclaimed and prolific contemporary composers of Music Theatre out to Australia to perform a series of concerts across the country with one of the greatest talents of the Australian stage and screen, Rachael Beck. Jason is also excited about the opportunity to work with our home grown talent in a series of Master Classes being held across the country while he is here."

The pianist, singer, and critically acclaimed composer will be performing brand new,previously unheard material, as well as a selection of songs from his shows Songs for aNew World, Parade, The Last 5 Years and 13. Jason will be accompanied by his own bandThe Caucasian Rhythm Kings, as well as a fabulous four-strong French horn section.

Jason Robert Brown is best known for spearheading the new generation of contemporaryAmerican musical theatre composers. His four major musicals as composer and lyricistare: 13, a musical written with Robert Horn and Dan Elish, which began its life in Los Angeles in 2007 and opened on Broadway in 2008; The Last 5 Years, which was cited asone of Time Magazine's 10 Best of 2001 and won Drama Desk Awards for Best Music and Best Lyrics; Parade, a musical written with Alfred Uhry and directed by Harold Prince,which premiered at Lincoln Center Theatre in 1998, and subsequently won both the Drama Desk and New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards for Best New Musical, as well asgarnering Jason the Tony Award for Original Score; and Songs for a New World, atheatrical song cycle directed by Daisy Prince, which played Off Broadway in 1995, andhas since been seen in hundreds of productions around the world.
