Jane Lynch is best known for making people laugh through her work on television and in films, but singing makes her happiest, she tells Lee Cowan in an interview for CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD to be broadcast June 15, 2014 (9:00 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network.

Cowan this week caught up with Lynch as she rehearsed for her first solo cabaret show in New York.

"I don't think anything makes me happier than singing, and I'm not a great singer," Lynch tells Cowan. "I'm not like, 'Whooo!' But it just fills me with such joy. It like massages my soul. Music transcends me."

Lynch also admits to Cowan she's nervous about her four-night run as a singer.

"I think I'm appropriately nervous," Lynch tells Cowan. "It's one of those things that it shows up, you kind of put it out in the universe, if you will, and it shows up and, as much as my insides were screaming 'no,' I said, 'Yes, I'll do it.'"

Besides her solo singing career, Lynch talks with Cowan about her work on "Glee," growing up in Chicago and how an early failure at making people laugh inspired her to work harder. She also reveals details about her personal battle with alcohol.

"I started going to AA. I was never tempted to pick up a drink ever again," Lynch tells Cowan. "It freaked me out that people left AA and got drunk again. I was like, why would you do that? And it's 22 years later, and I haven't had a drink."

CBS SUNDAY MORNING is broadcast Sundays (9:00-10:30 AM, ET) on the CBS Television Network. Rand Morrison is the executive producer.
