James Byous, Lindsay Pearce & More Lead Immersive AMERICAN IDIOT in L.A. - Briana Cuoco to Offer Exclusive Blog!

glory|struck productions has announced complete casting for their upcoming immersive, environmental staging of AMERICAN IDIOT, to be vibrantly brought to life in a yet-to-be-disclosed warehouse venue of Downtown Los Angeles' Arts District.

This electrifying stage adaptation of the punk album features James Byous as Johnny, Lindsay Pearce ("Glee") as Whatsername, Briana Cuoco ("The Voice"), Payson Lewis ("The Sing Off"), Jonah Platt (HAIR), Caitlin Ary, Alec Cyganowski, Bianca Gisselle, Matt Magnusson, Abraham Lim ("The Glee Project"), Michelle Raitzin ("The Voice"), Shelley Regner (Pitch Perfect 2), Jordan Booker, Barrett Crake, Casey Hayden, Reesa Marie, Jenna Townsend, and Zach Zagoria.

AMERICAN IDIOT, crafted from the iconic Grammy Award-winning album by Green Day, chronicles the frustration, anger, and dreams of a lost generation of young Americans as they struggle to find meaning in a post 9/11 world.

Performances begin May 15th. Tickets for the event will become available on April 28th, with pre-sale beginning April 14th for those supporting the Kickstarter campaign.

In a special evening of music, the dynamic cast of glory|struck's AMERICAN IDIOT will take the stage of Sunset Strip's historic The Viper Room for a one-night-only showcase celebrating the upcoming production. The event will take place Saturday, April 18th at 10:30pm at The Viper Room (8852 West Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA 90069). Tickets available at http://viperroom.com

AMERICAN IDIOT will be directed by Topher Rhys and Jen Oundjian, who reunite again with musical director Elmo Zapp.

This rock-infused presentation will be produced for glory|struck by Topher Rhys, Jamie Lee Barnard, and Juliana Scott who most recently brought the award-winning, Ovation nominated Los Angeles revival of bare to life at the historic Hayworth Theatre. Before that, glory|struck produced the wildly successful, grunge-inspired Spring Awakening in Concert to raise awareness for the LOVE IS LOUDER campaign.

Jen Oundjian (whose work has been seen on The Oprah Winfrey Show, America's Got Talent, and Dancing with the Stars) and Erik Hall will choreograph the show.

Other key team members include co-producers Nicci Claspell and Stephanie Lazard, lighting design by Brandon Baruch, sound design by Jon King, associate music production by Alex Seller, and assistant choreographer Dominic Masta.

Conceived by Michael Mayer and Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, this high-octane show features every song from the album, including "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," "Wake Me Up When September Ends," "Holiday" and the title track "American Idiot." The score also includes "21 Guns" among other songs from Green Day's Grammy Award-winning 2009 release "21st Century Breakdown."

Green Day won two Grammys - Best Rock Album and Record of the Year - for its multi-platinum American Idiot, which sold more than 12 million copies worldwide. The Broadway cast album of American Idiot won the 2010 Grammy Award winner for Best Musical Show Album.

Deemed a "new, exciting, and effective brand of theater," glory|struck creates music-driven art that aligns poignant narratives with social issues. Through compelling stories and identifiable characters, their mission is to bring theatre back to our concert-loving roots - vibrant, guitar-heavy, and loud - while using the music and its message to inspire collective action.

This production of AMERICAN IDIOT will launch a social action campaign to generate awareness for TO WRITE LOVE ON HER ARMS and HOMEFRONT RISING, two non-profits whose missions closely align with the themes of the show.
