In November, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR will open at La Jolla Playhouse with Des McAnuff directing. However, no plans are confirmed on it's expected transfer to Broadway, according to Sign On San Diego.

Last week, the New York Post reported that McAnuff's revival of the 1971 Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice rock musical would play Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre in the spring. (CATCH ME IF YOU CAN currently plays at the Neil Simon and will close Sept. 4.)

But a Stratford spokeswoman (SUPERSTAR is currently playing at Canada's Stratford Shakespeare Festival) said Friday that neither a theater nor a date has been set yet.

McAnuff's also recently announced he will leave his post as artistic director at Stratfordafter the 2013 season.  McAnuff continues to develop with The Playhouse is a musical adaptation of "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots," the 2002 album by the The Flaming Lips.
