Reps for LOVE NEVER DIES have confirmed to the New York Times this morning that indeed the production will not open on Broadway as planned in the Spring of 2011. Adrian Bryan-Brown of the Boneau Bryan Brown agency wrote in an e-mail to the Times: "‘Love Never Dies' will not be opening on Broadway this Spring...Further news about the show will be announced shortly."
As BroadwayWorld previously reported, it was widely speculated that LOVE NEVER DIES director Jack O'Brien and choreographer Jerry Mitchell had left the production to focus on CATCH ME IF YOU CAN, which is officially confirmed to open at the Neil Simon Theatre this spring.
The West End's production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's LOVE NEVER DIES has extended ticket sales through March 2011. The show opened at the Adelphi Theatre in London on March 9, 2010.
It is expected that LOVE NEVER DIES will also be hitting Australia and Toronto with different teams in place in each city. No specific dates, timelines or names for casting or creative have been revealed.
The principal characters of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA continue their stories in Andrew Lloyd Webber's LOVE NEVER DIES. 10 years after the mysterious disappearance of The Phantom from the Paris Opera House, Christine Daaé accepts an offer to come to America and perform at New York's fabulous new playground of the world - Coney Island. Christine arrives in New York with her husband Raoul and their son Gustave. She soon discovers the identity of the anonymous impresario who has lured her from France to sing.
