Irving, Hickok, Etc. Set for Irish Rep Meet Me in St. Louis

Meet Me in St. Louis will be the next production at the Irish Repertory Theatre in Chelsea. The production will begin previews on December 6th and open on December 14th. The show will run through January 28th, 2007. Charlotte Moore will direct.

Adapted from Sally Benson's short vignettes, entitled 5135 Kensington, "Meet Me in St. Louis is the story of the Smith family as they eagerly anticipate the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis just after the turn of the century. Optimism and young love are severely tested and, of course, finally triumph.  Like the legendary 1944 film, the stage adaptation offers such iconic songs as 'The Boy Next Door,' 'The Trolley Song,' and 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,'" according to press notes. The book is by Hugh Wheeler and songs are by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane.

The cast will include Tony Award-winner George S. Irving (Me and My Girl, Irene), John Hickok (Little Women, Aida), Sarah Pfisterer (Show Boat, The Phantom of the Opera), Becky Barta (Les Miserables), and Danielle and Gabrielle Piacentile (Les Miserables). Also featured will be Doug Boes, Merideth Kaye Clark, Kerry Conte, Colin Donnell, Bonnie Fraser, and Ashley Robinson.

Charlotte Moore is Co-Founder (with Ciarán O'Reilly) and Artistic Director of The Irish Repertory Theatre.  She most recently directed the world premiere adaptation of Mrs. Warren's Profession, adapted and directed Finian's Rainbow, and directed Samuel Beckett's Endgame.

Performances are Wednesday through Saturday at 8 PM with matinees on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday at 3 PM.

Tickets are $60 and $55 and can be purchased by calling The Irish Repertory Theatre Box Office at (212) 727-2737.  For more information, call the box office or visit www.irishrep.org.
