INFAMOUS COMMONWEALTH THEATRE PRESENTS
THE SIXTH ANNUAL "INFAMOUS IDOL" KARAOKE CONTEST

Grand Prize: Two Night Stay at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana.

Tuesday, June 10, 7:00pm - 10:00pm at the Holiday Club, 4000 N. Sheridan Rd. $5.00 suggested donation at the door. For more information, call 312.458.9780 or visit www.infamouscommonwealth.org.

Doors open promptly at 7:00pm. Contestants enter the karaoke contest upon arrival (no pre-registration) and perform in sign up order. Due to time constrictions, Infamous Commonwealth Theatre (ICT) cannot guarantee that every contestant will be able to perform, so contestants are strongly encouraged to arrive early. Contestants will be heard for as long as time allows. Single performers only; no group entries allowed.

After each contestant's song, three actors playing Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell from the TV show "American Idol" evaluate the performance. After all contestants have performed, "Paula," "Randy" and "Simon" pick the top five finalists. The finalists perform a second song, and then the audience votes for their favorite performer by giving money to the contestant they'd most like to win (all "money votes" benefit ICT). Because the winner is determined by audience votes, contestants are encouraged to bring a large group of friends and supporters with them to increase their chances of taking the top prize.

Whichever finalist collects the most money from the crowd at the end of the evening will be crowned the 2008 INFAMOUS IDOL and win a two-night stay at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana. There is no registration fee for this contest. A $5.00 donation at the door is suggested for all attendees, regardless of whether or not they choose to compete.

There will also be a raffle with prizes including theater tickets, season subscriptions, and an autographed basketball from Chicago Bulls' Ben Wallace. Drink/food specials include 20 ounce Pabst Blue Ribbon Schooners for $3.50, $1.00 off Tezon Tequila Cocktails, and $5.00 Holi-burgers.

All proceeds from Infamous Idol support ICT's 2008-2009 season, which is dedicated to the season topic NATURE. All ICT staff, ensemble and board members are not eligible for the competition.

Founded in 2001, ICT's unique mission is to illuminate diverse perspectives around one centralized topic per season. ICT has received six After Dark Awards and four Joseph Jefferson Citations since its inception. For more information on ICT, please visit www.infamouscommonwealth.org.

Please include the above event in your listings. For any questions about this press release, please contact Jennifer Mathews at 773.209.3889 or jmathews@infamouscommonwealth.org. Thank you!
