IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE Set For Town Hall Theater 8/18
A spaceship from another world crashes into the Arizona desert, and only an amateur stargazer and a schoolteacher suspect alien influence when the townsfolk begin to act strange.
That's the premise of It Came from Outer Space, the classic science fiction film based on a short story by Ray Bradbury. The 1953 film has become a cult classic, with its low-budget effects and eerie tone. It's the second film in Town Hall Theater's summer film series, Close Encounters on Merchants Row.
It Came from Outer Space will be shown on Thursday, August 18, at 7 pm. Tickets are only $3, and may be purchased at the door.
The final film in the series will by Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It will be shown Thursday, September 1, at 7 pm. Again, tickets are only $3, and may be purchased at the door.
"Many young people know a film like Close Encounters, but perhaps they've seen it on television or a small computer screen," says THT executive director Douglas Anderson. "It's a very different experience to see these films on a big screen with a great sound system. That's really the way they should be seen."
