In notable news for the week, HEDWIG set another box office record with a gross of $1,088,660.02. The fifth time the show has accomplished that. Additionally, the revival of John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men broke the house record at the Longacre Theatre for the second time during its critically acclaimed run last week. The show starring Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner James Franco, BAFTA and Tony Award nominee Chris O'Dowd, Leighton Meester and Tony and Olivier Award winner Jim Norton grossed $929,888 for the week ending July 20 breaking its previous record of $897,851.00 the week ending April 27. Directed by Tony Award winner Anna D. Shapiro, Of Mice and Men was the first "hit" of the spring, recouping its $3.8 million capitalization in only twelve weeks. The critically acclaimed production opened on Wednesday, April 16, and will play through Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Broadway's Longacre Theatre (220 West 48 Street).
