Hudson River Rep's SEASON'S GREETINGS Opens 11/20
By: Reynard Loki
Hudson River Repertory Company presents Sir Alan Ayckbourn's SEASON'S GREETINGS beginning November 20th at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre in New York and closing December 7, 2008. It is the first time in over twenty years that SEASON'S GREETINGS will be on a New York stage.
Sir Ayckbourn, a prolific English playwright who has received several Evening Standard Awards (for ABSURD PERSON SINGULAR, THE HORMAN CONQUESTS, JUST BETWEEN OURSELVES, A CHORUS OF DISAPPROVAL, HENCEFORWARD... and MAN OF THE MOMENT) and the Laurence Olivier Award (for A CHORUS OF DISAPPROVAL) will be inducted into New York's Theater Hall of Fame. He was knighted in 1997.
It's the "bloody" holidays…when toys and marriages break down and in-laws become out-laws! Alan Ayckbourn's SEASON'S GREETINGS makes its return to the New York stageas Hudson River Repertory Company brings this hilarious and cynical comedy to the McGinn/Cazale Theatre. The witty and acerbic Ayckbourn delivers a full palette of rich and outrageous characters such as the crusty uncle who is a gun fanatic, the accident-prone sister who can always be counted on to ruin the lamb, and her husband who sets the stage for the dreaded annual puppet show. Throw in a mad midnight tryst under the Christmas tree and it all adds up to classic Ayckbourn humor that gets right under the skin of family dynamics. New York audiences will rediscover this thought-provoking gem for the holidays with a fresh approach by veteran director Laurie Eliscu that will bring the humor front and center.Videos
