Ramin Karimloo was first bitten by the theatre bug upon seeing Colm Wilkinson in the original production of The Phantom of the Opera in Toronto in the late 80s. Since then he has gone on to play the title role in both The Phantom and Love Never Dies in London's West End, and now will come home to Toronto for the first time in the Mirvish Production of LES MISERABLES which was just announced for their 2013-2014 season. BWW spoke with Ramin about how he feels about coming home, the pressures of the role of Jean Valjean, Sheytoons, protecting his voice and more. (more...)

LES MISERABLES, ONCE, ALADDIN & More Set for Mirvish's 50th Season

Mirvish Productions is celebrating fifty years of producing in Toronto with their largest and most ambitious subscription seasons to date, starting with the return of the smash-hit LES MISERABLES with hometown boy Ramin Karimloo in the lead role of Jean Valjean. Toronto will also see the World Premiere of ALADDIN, the Tony Award Winning musical ONCE, the World Premiere of Sergio Trujillo's ARRABAL, the North American Premiere of HEARTBEAT OF HOME, critical favourite METAMORPHOSIS and the North American Premiere of THE LAST CONFESSION. Bill Clinton to Present Barbra Streisand with Chaplin Award on 4/22

Wong will share the role of the Stage Manager in The Actors Fund's upcoming benefit reading of the American classic Our Town on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 7:30 p .m. at The Gerald R. Lynch Theatre at John Jay College (524 West 59th Street). New additions to the cast also include Martin Moran (All the Rage, Spamalot) will read the role of Simon Stimson, Julia Murney (Falling, Wicked) as Mrs. Soames and Leslie Odom, Jr. (Smash, Leap of Faith) as George Gibbs. Simon Cowell Hard at Work on THE X FACTOR Musical?

Michael Riedel reports that Simon Cowell is hard at work on THE X FACTOR MUSICAL, which just had an invitation only workshop in London last week, starring Alexander Hanson as the infamous reality show judge. Happy Birthday Stockard Channing! In 1971, she made her Broadway debut in Two Gentlemen of Verona - The Musical, working with playwright John Guare. She also appeared on Broadway in 1973 in a supporting role in No Hard Feelings. In 1978, at the age of 33, she took on the role of high school teenager Betty Rizzo in the hit musical Grease. Additional Broadway credits include: They're Playing Our Song, A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, The House of Blue Leaves, Six Degrees of Separation, Woman in Mind, Four Baboons Adoring the Sun, and The Lion in Winter.
