Billie Joe Armstrong to Write Songs for THESE PAPER BULLETS Musical at Yale Rep; Opens in March 2014

According to the New York Times, Broadway veteran and Green Day member Billie Joe Armstrong is set to write songs for 'These Paper Bullets' at Yale Repertory Theater. The show, which is a rock version of 'Much Ado About Nothing,' will premiere in March 2014. The show will be directed by Jackson Gay, and will be about 'a band from Liverpool dealing with romance and the music industry in London.' (more...)

Kristen Bell Tweets About VERONICA MARS Movie

Yesterday, it was reported that screen and stage star Kristen Bell would be re-teaming with VERONICA MARS creator Rob Thomas in pursuing a feature film adaptation of the quirky Cult action series, along with most of the original cast of the 2004-2007 show, and kicking it all off with a Kickstarter campaign to raise the needed $2 million to proceed further with their plans. BUDDY Musical to Launch Open Casting Tour in Nashville!

Theseus Productions, LLC and Theater of the Stars has announced that the musical Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story will hold an open casting call in select cities for the role of 'Buddy Holly' in the upcoming North American Tour. Auditions will be held in Nashville, Austin, Toronto and Atlanta between March 16 and March 23, 2013. Finalists will be invited to audition in New York later that month. (more...)

Classic Stage Company Extends PASSION Through 4/19

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, announced today that their critically-acclaimed new production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Tony Award-winning musical PASSION, directed by John Doyle (director of the acclaimed Broadway revivals of Sondheim's Sweeney Todd and Company), will extend once again by popular demand for four additional performances through Friday, April 19 at CSC (136 East 13th Street). PASSION stars Melissa Errico (Clara), Judy Kuhn (Fosca) and Ryan Silverman (Giorgio). The production also features Stephen Bogardus (Colonel Ricci), Jeffry Denman (Lieutenant Barri), Jason Michael Evans (Private Augenti), Ken Krugman (Lieutenant Torasso), Orville Mendoza (Sergeant Lombardi), Tom Nelis (Doctor Tambourri), Will Reynolds (Major Rizzoli/Ludovic), John Antony (understudy) and Amy Justman (understudy).
CSC also announced that twenty $10 tickets for each of the final four performances - Tuesday, April 16 at 7pm, Wednesday, April 17 at 7pm, Thursday, April 18 at 8pm and Friday, April 19 at 8pm - generously underwritten by TheaterMania.com and Aaron Lieber/Bruce Horten. REBECCA Producers and Publicist Caught in Lawsuit Back-and-Forth

2013's Broadway drama continues to unfold surrounding the musical REBECCA. According to The New York Times, the publicist who formerly represented REBECCA, Marc Thibodeau, has asked the State Supreme Court to dismiss a lawsuit put forth by the show's producers that accuses Thibodeau of 'defamation and breach of contract and fiduciary duty' for allegedly 'scaring off' a last-minute investor. Thibodeau is arguing that he only warned the potential investor that REBECCA's producers had been taken in by a fraud scheme. (more...)
