Heather Headley and Lloyd Owen lead the cast in new musical The Bodyguard, directed by Thea Sharrock. Other cast members include Debbie Kurup, Mark Letheren, Ray Shell, Nicolas Colicos, Mark McKerracher, Sean Chapman, David Page and Oliver Le Sueur. They are joined by Luis Buddy, Caius Duncombe, Jayden Fowora Knight, Kwame Kandekore, Taylor Lockhart and Malakai Paul who will share the role of Fletcher, Rachel Marron's young son. Barbra Streisand 'Working on Rights Issue' for GYPSY Film

Guillermo Del Toro Adapting PAN'S LABYRINTH Into a Stage Musical

According to Deadline.com, Paul Williams and Gustavo Santaolallo are currently working on writing the music and lyrics to a musical version of Pan's Labyrinth. Guillermo Del Toro, who directed the 2006 film, is working with Jeremy Ungar on writing a script for the stage adaptation. (more...)

When I first opened my New York City studio in 1977, I had just been hired as one of the pianists for the new Broadway musical, Annie. Many of my fellow voice teachers were quite upset that kids were being asked to belt in that show, feeling that only classical "head voice" singing was healthy. Also, at that time, most voice teachers and coaches would refuse to work with any student who had not reached puberty. They were under the impression that voice lessons could "ruin" a child's voice, which for many years was a widely accepted belief. (more...)
