Confirmed! Julia Roberts & Mark Ruffalo to Star in THE NORMAL HEART for HBO; Directed by Ryan Murphy for 2014

As first reported exclusively by BroadwayWorld.com back in November of 2012, it's now official that Academy Award(R) winner Julia Roberts and Academy Award(R) nominee Mark Ruffalo will star in the HBO Films drama THE NORMAL HEART, directed by Emmy(R) winner Ryan Murphy ('Eat Pray Love,' 'Glee'), it was announced today by Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. Slated to begin production in New York City later this year for 2014 debut on HBO, the film is written by Larry Kramer, adapting his groundbreaking Tony Award-winning play of the same name. (more...)

John Barrowman Injured During Panto Performance in Glasgow

According to the BBC, stage and screen star John Barrowman was recently injured during a performance of Jack and the Beanstalk at the SECC Clyde Auditorium in Glasgow. Barrowman fell off of a live horse during the show, and was not seriously hurt. (more...)

Today in 2009, Hairspraiy closed at the Neil Simon Theatre after 2,641 performances. Hairspray is a musical with music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, based on the 1988 John Waters film Hairspray. The songs include 1960s-style dance music and 'downtown' rhythm and blues. Last night, the contest winner, Melissa Marengo, joined Buddy the Elf and the rest of the cast, including two-time Tony winner Beth Leavel and Wayne Knight of Seinfeld, on stage during the Macy's Santa Scene. Today, we're featuring Douglas Sills circa 1998. Sills made his Broadway debut in 1997's The Scarlet Pimpernel. Continuing the role in three other versions of the show, Sills received a Tony Award nomination. In 2004, Sills joined the Broadway-bound Chicago production of Monty Python's Spamalot. However, before the production began, Sills left on his own account due to reported 'major script changes.' In 2009, Sills starred opposite Kristin Chenoweth at the New York City Center production of Music in the Air. (more...)

CHAPLIN Will Open in Brazil in 2014
