Broadway and TV veteran Valerie Harper has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. The actress received the tragic news on January 15th and has as little as three months to live. The 73-year-old is best known to millions of fans as quirky New Yorker 'Rhoda Morgenstern' on TV's 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show' and its spinoff, 'Rhoda.' Jeff Kready and More to to Join Laurie Veldheer in Paper Mill's THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE; Full Cast Announced!

Paper Mill Playhouse has announced the cast for Thoroughly Modern Millie, winner of the 2002 Drama Desk and Tony Award for Best Musical. This effervescent musical romp will feature Ashley Kate Adams (Miss Dorothy Brown), Brenda Braxton (Muzzy Van Hossmere), Billy Bustamante (Bun Foo), Jeff Kready (Jimmy Smith), Burke Moses (Mr. Trevor Graydon), Lenora Nemetz (Mrs. Meers), James Seol (Ching Ho), Jessica Sheridan (Miss Flannery) and Laurie Veldheer (Millie Dillmount). Thoroughly Modern Millie will be directed by Paper Mill Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Mark S. Hoebee with choreography by Denis Jones. Thoroughly Modern Millie will run at the Millburn, New Jersey, theater from April 10 through May 5, 2013. The official press opening is Sunday, April 14, at 7:00pm. (more...)

Tony Award-winning producer Junkyard Dog Productions (Memphis) has just announced FIRST DATE, Broadway's new musical comedy, has set the date to open at The Longacre Theatre (220 West 48th Street), Sunday, August 4, 2013. With a book by Austin Winsberg ("Gossip Girl"), music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner (Secondhand Lions, Twice Charmed), choreographed by Josh Rhodes (Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella) and directed by Bill Berry (Producing Director of The 5th Avenue Theatre), FIRST DATE begins performances Tuesday, July 9, 2013. The world premiere production of the new musical TUCK EVERLASTING will play at Boston's Citi Performing Arts Center Emerson Colonial Theatre (106 Boylston Street) from July 28-August 18, 2013. Alec Baldwin Responds to Shia LaBeouf's ORPHANS Tweets

It was announced late last month that due to creative differences, the producers of Orphans and Shia LaBeouf would part ways and he would not continue with the production. LaBeouf revealed additional details on why he dropped out of the production via Twitter, including emails with Alec Baldwin, Tom Sturridge and more. Vulture asked Baldwin to respond to a particular tweet from LaBeouf: 'The theater belongs not to the great but to the brash.'
