High School in the Spotlight: Santa Barbara High

By:

Just like the BroadwayWorld College Center, the High School Center offers a directory featuring upcoming show listings for high schools nationwide. Schools can register for 'enhanced' listings on the site - adding in photos, cast lists, videos, links and more. Productions that take advantage of this will receive highlights on our listing pages, extra editorial mentions and potential spotlight features.

This week's High School in the Spolight goes to the Performing Arts Department at Santa Barbara High School in California! Get to know their arts program and check out photos from past productions!

The Performing Arts Department is home to a renowned Theater program with alumni such as Martha Graham, Timothy Bottoms, and Ron Shelton. Students (along with several community organizations) act, write, manage, direct, and produce Broadway musicals each year.

Course offerings in the Theater include Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Theater; Chicano Theater; Play Production and Dance Production; and Stagecraft.

The Instrumental Music Program provides students with the opportunity to participate in an award-winning program that will take them across the state to participate in several high-level competitions. The Marching Band, Pep Band, Color Guard, and Drumline are all visible parts of our athletic program, and provide our football fans with entertainment every Friday night in the fall. The music program is rounded-out with an incredible Jazz Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble, a Concert Band, Symphonic Band.

The Vocal Music Program hosts two celebrated programs in Santa Barbara: the A Cappella Choir and the Madrigal Singers. These groups have performed in distinguished ceremonies and for packed crowds acrossthe State of California.

Upcoming productions at Santa Barbara High include GOD OF CARNAGE, SPAMALOT and THE GLASS MENAGERIE. To learn more and for tickets, click here
