Henry Winkler to Receive Award of Excellence at Banff World Media Festival

The Banff World Media Festival (BANFF) today proudly announced that the legendary actor, Henry Winkler, will receive the prestigious Award of Excellence at the 35th annual BANFF, being held June 8-11th, 2014. Since 1982, the Award has been presented annually to an individual whose body of work in entertainment has profoundly touched the lives of audiences around the world. Past honorees of the Award include Walter Cronkite; Nigel Lythgoe; Eugene Levy; Victor Garber and William Shatner.

Two-time Golden Globe winner Henry Winkler has made an iconic and lasting contribution to the entertainment industry over his 40 years in the business on shows like Happy Days, Arrested Development, and Royal Pains. Mr. Winkler continues to inspire audiences today by co-authoring a series of 26 best-selling children's books. They are currently a hit series on the BBC. Mr. Winkler has also been an Executive Producer on shows like Mac Guyver and Sightings.

"Having the opportunity to entertain audiences for over 40 years has been a blessing," said Henry Winkler. "I am grateful and very humbled to be recognized by this great Festival."

Mr. Winkler will accept the honour at the annual Rockie Awards Gala taking place during the Festival on June 10th, 2014, a star-studded event that celebrates some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. Winkler will also be featured in a one-on-one interview at BANFF, giving delegates an unprecedented opportunity to hear directly from 'The Fonz' himself about his enduring career.
