Harvey Returns! Welcome to the return of special new series on BroadwayWorld.com -
four time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein's personal MySpace blog of
bringing his brand new musical, A Catered Affair to Broadway. We'll be
exclusively picking up Harvey Fierstein's blog as he shares his first hand reports from
rehearsals to Opening Night (and beyond). Check back for updates as rehearsals get underway!
Hello my darlings!
I promise that I have not forgotten you. But life is
starting to pick up steam here and I'm finding it a little hard to focus on the
simple pleasures like keeping up with my blog and TIVO. My TIVO, in fact,
erased a few shows that I never got to watch just because it needed room for
more shows. So if it's this bad now, what's going to happen when I start back
to work in two weeks?
That's right, kids, TWO WEEKS until we're back in rehearsal!
YIKES! AND...
THE BOX OFFICE IS OPEN! That's right. You can buy tickets to
A Catered Affair at the lovely Walter
Kerr Theater on the Broadway of New York City. Exciting? I should say.
Meanwhile, between the show and starting with press and
all... here is a photo of me doing the "Joan Hamburg Show" live from Sardi's
Restaurant last week.

I have known Joan for a hundred years
and love her. In fact, I played a role in her son's very first outing as a film
director, Safe Men. Check it out. I
play a heterosexual mobster very well.
After I left Sardi's I was whisked off for an hour's lunch
and chat with Barbara Hoffman of The New
York Post. Anyone in the city can check out Saturday's Library page of the Post and see what's on my night table.
Then it was off to the Delta Lounge on 57th Street where we announced the launch
of our show's website:
www.ACateredAffairOnBroadway.com
Here is a photo of me and two of my lovely producers, Richie
Jackson and Jordan Roth, as we lounge in a Delta Airlines row of seats.

Here what I looked like checking out the site.

And here's what the audience looked like at that event:

Among the press in attendance was legendary Village Voice columnist Michael Musto
who wrote a very funny piece about our interview in this week's Voice. If you are interested, you can read
it online, I believe. Just Google him. But, for the record, here's what he looks like at a press event.

So, other than a new Broadway show, building a house, trying
to sell my current house, shopping for the stuff I need for the new house...
I'm basically resting. So that's why I haven't been great about getting these
updates to you. But know that I know you all are out there and I' promise to
keep you up to date as best I can.
Check out the ads for the show in this weekend's New York Times, New Yorker Magazine and listen to the radio for our ads to begin on
Monday. Kids... WE IS COMING TO TOWN SO... STAY TUNED!
