Hands of Kali Presents TIN CAN STUDIO, 8/13
By: Nicole Rosky
The super-heroes of cutting-edge bellydance troupe Hands of Kali have landed at the Old Rainier Brewery! They're officially opening their own new headquarters, in a little hideaway known as TIN CAN STUDIO. The Grand Opening party happens Saturday evening, August 13, 2011, 6-9pm. Consider yourself invited!
TIN CAN STUDIO's Grand Opening party will feature world-shaking bellydance by Hands of Kali, Adderstone and special guest Grace Constantine (Portland, OR), along with aerials by Gale Force and musical performance art by The Fog People. The party coincides with the Brewery's quarterly artwalk, so you can sample plenty of other artsy goodness throughout the Brewery complex.Along with saving the world through dance, TIN CAN STUDIO's mission also includes feeding the hungry, which is why the price of admission to the Grand Opening party is, simply: One can of food. All canned goods and other non-perishable food items collected will be donated to Rainier Valley Food Bank.Grand Opening weekend also features bellydance workshops by Grace Constantine. Saturday August 13, 2-4pm, Grace will teach her signature "Story Belly" workshop, followed by her "Femme Fatale" workshop on Sunday August 14, 2-4pm. Cost of each workshop is $30 per person.
