Grammer, Cannavale Among Nominees of 2012 Critic's Choice Awards

NBC's comedy series COMMUNITY lead the nominations of the 2012 Critic's Choice Television Awards. The series racked up six nominations including best comedy series and best comedy actor Joel McHale. Following right behind was NBC's comedy Parks & Recreation, and the AMC drama series Mad Men, both with five nominations. Broadway vet Kelsey Grammer received a nomination for his lead role in the Starz drama series 'Boss', while Bobby Cannavale received a nomination for his guest starring role in the ABC comedy 'Modern Family.'

Five-time Emmy Award-winning star Kelsey Grammer made his Broadway musical debut opposite Olivier Award-winner Douglas Hodge in the Tony Award and Oliver Award-winning musical comedy, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. Cannavale made his Broadway debut in 2007 in Theresa Rebeck's Mauritius, for which he received a Tony Award nomination; last season, starred in Stephen Adly Guirgis' The Motherf**ker with the Hat, for which he received a Tony Award nomination and a Drama Desk Award. He received rave reviews in the 2005 Off-Broadway revival of Hurlyburly.

NBC received the most nominations with 14, followed by ABC with 13 and Fox and HBO with 12. The list includes a lot of long-time awards underdogs and fresh newcomers. Award winners will be announced at a gala awards dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on June 18.

The Critics’ Choice Television Awards honors programs and performances that aired between June 1, 2011 and May 31, 2012. The Broadcast Television Journalists Association (BTJA) has been formed as a collective voice to represent the professional interests of those who regularly cover television for TV viewers, radio listeners and online audiences as well. BTJA will present the Critics' Choice Television Awards to honor the finest achievements on networks and channels big and small.
