The York Theatre Company will present God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, the 49th musical presentation in its Musical in Mufti Series of staged concerts, by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, based on the Kurt Vonnegut bestseller, on April 1, 2, and 3. The cast includes John Ellison Conlee, David Pittu and Anastasia Barzee. God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater, directed by Sheryl Kaller with musical direction by Fred Lasser, will play five performances at the theatre at St. Peter's Citigroup Center, 619 Lexington Avenue at 54th Street.

God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater was Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman first collaboration, Written in 1978, the musical premiered at the WPA in 1978, moving to the Entermedia Theatre for an extended run.  Mr. Vonnegut and Alan Menken are scheduled to take part in post-show discussions following the matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.  Performances are Friday, April 1 at 8 p.m., Saturday, April 2 at 2:30 and 8 p.m., and Sunday, April 3 at 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. 
The musical, based on Vonnegut's novel, is the story of Eliot Rosewater, World War II Veteran, eccentric, and president of a multi-national family foundation, who attempts a noble experiment with human nature resulting in an etched-in-acid portrayal of greed, hypocrisy and follies of the flesh.

The cast of God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater includes: Anastasia Barzee, John Ellison Conlee, Wally Dunn, Dann Fink, Howard Delbert, Beth Leavel, Anthony Newfield, Patti Perkins, David Pittu, Robert J. Spencer, Jamison Stern, Amanda Watkins and Lee Zarrett.

"Mr. Rosewater" will be followed in the Mufti Series by Harold Arlen and E. Y. (Yip) Harburg's Jamaica on April 8 - 10 and Darling of the Day by Jule Styne and E. Y. Harburg on April 15, 16, 17.  Jamaica will be the 50th Musical in Mufti presented by the York.
