According to the Associated Press, Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon are looking for ways to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their Oscar-winning film THELMA & LOUISE.

"There's still so much affection for the movie and we loved it. It seems like there should be some girl power celebrating going on," Davis said. She added that she and Sarandon are mulling over ideas for a "live show or a tour" and said "people seem to like the idea."

The actress also said she wants the anniversary to remind people "that it is possible to make a movie that's a cultural landmark starring women."

THELMA & LOUISE hit theaters in 1991, written by Callie Khouri and directed by Ridley Scott. It centers on two friends who head out on a road trip with disastrous consequences. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards - including nods for Davis and Sarandon for Best Actress - and won for Best Original Screenplay.

Davis, who currently stars on Grey's Anatomy as 'Dr. Nicole Herman', is known for her roles in the films The Fly, Beetlejuice, A League of Their Own, The Long Kiss Goodnight, Stuart Little and The Accidental Tourist, which earned her the 1988 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She won a Golden Globe in 2005 for her role in Commander in Chief. She is in the process of launching the new Bentonville Film Festival and founded the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media.

Sarandon was nominated for Oscars for the films Atlantic City, Lorenzo's Oil, The Client, and, of course, Thelma & Louise. She won an Academy Award in 1995 for Dead Man Walking. Among her other big screen credits are Cloud Atlas, The Lovely Bones, Enchanted, Stepmom, Bull Durham, The Witches of Eastwick, Tempest, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and more. The actress made her Broadway debut in An Evening with Richard Dixon and more recently appeared on the Great White Way in Exit the King. Sarandon also received Drama Desk nominations for her off-Broadway runs in A Coupla White Chicks Sitting Around Talking and Extremities.
