Gay Singles Night Follows Confessions of a Mormon Boy, March 16
Gay singles are invited to mix and mingle after the March 16th performance of Confessions of a Mormon Boy at 8 PM. "Gay Singles Night" will take place at a cocktail reception following the performance of the hit one-man show, written and starring Steven Fales and directed by Tony Award-winner Jack Hofsiss ( The Elephant Man). In addition, attendees will have the chance to meet Fales. Confessions of a Mormon Boy recently offered a new block of tickets for performances through May 21, 2006, now with a new low ticket price of $30. The show opened on February 5th after giving its first preview performance on January 27th off-Broadway at the Soho Playhouse (15 Vandam St.); it is playing an open run.
"An
inspiring true story told through humor, song and the Book of Mormon, Fales' critically acclaimed solo play explores one young man's
captivating journey through excommunication, divorce, prostitution and drugs, as
he struggles to reclaim himself, his children and his 'Donny Osmond' smile," state press notes.
Prior to its current Off-Broadway incarnation, Confessions of a Mormon Boy started as a stand-up comedy routine in Manhattan. The full
play first premiered to sold-out crowds in Salt Lake City in 2001 and after playing successful developmental runs across the country, received an Overall Excellence Award at the 2004 New
York International Fringe Festival.
Fales has appeared opposite Eden Espinosa in the musical Blood and Fire at the York Theatre, The Tempest at Judith Shakespeare Festival, and his stand up act, Oxy Mormon
at Caroline's on Broadway, Stand Up New York and Don't Tell Mama. His
regional theatre credits include Utah Shakespeare Festival, Connecticut
Repertory, Robert Redford's Sundance Theatre, Stages St. Louis and
others. His TV credits include the CBS mini series "Perfect Murder,
Perfect Town," "Touched by an Angel" and "Miracles and Other Wonders." The production features set and
lighting design by Tim Saternow (Squonk) and costume design by
Ellis Tillman (Urban Cowboy). The running time is 90
minutes with no intermission.
The "Gay Singles Night" ticket package includes the performance of Confessions of a Mormon Boy along with a complimentary cocktail at a
post-performance reception at the theatre, and door prizes; it costs $50. Tickets for Friday and Saturday
evening performances are $55 each. Tickets for all other performances are $50
each. Tickets are now available by calling the SoHo Playhouse at (212) 691-1555, and
in-person at the SoHo Playhouse Box Office at 15 Vandam St. (just west of Sixth
Ave. and Macdougal St.). For groups (10+),
