Canada's Royal Manitoba Theater Center next year will bring Margaret Mitchell's GONE WITH THE WIND to the stage, in a new adaptation by Niki Landau. As they announced earlier today, opening night is set for January 10. Casting has not yet been announced.

GONE WITH THE WIND has been adapted for the stage several times with less-than-successful results. In 2008 a Trevor Nunn-helmed musical version opened in the West End, where it lasted for 79 performances.

Southern belle Scarlett O’Hara’s pampered life of parties and petticoats is threatened by the devastation of the American Civil War. As she struggles to survive, this unlikely heroine proves she has the gumption to persevere despite the odds. Margaret Mitchell’s epic romance comes to life in the world premiere adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel.
