GOD OF CARNAGE to Make Orange County Premiere at Maverick Theater, 1/11-2/10
From political correctness to character assassination, bad behavior has never been so good as it is in Yasmina Reza's "God of Carnage," winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play. Translated by Christopher Hampton, this production makes its Orange County Premiere at the Maverick Theater from January 11 - February 10, 2013.
"Sticks and stones can break my bones..." but when Benjamin hits Henry at a nearby park, their parents come together for a civilized evening of coffee, cake, and conversation about their kids. What begins as a calm, rational debate among adults quickly devolves into a night of name-calling, finger-pointing, and bad-mouthing, disproving the notion that "words can never hurt me." By the end of the evening the grown-ups have outdone their pugnacious children in poor behavior, which leaves the couples with more than just their liberal principles in tatters. "God of Carnage" is a hilariously harrowing look at the minefield of modern marriage.
Directed by Brian Newell, God of Carnage opens January 11th and runs through February 10th. Performances are 8:00 p.m. Fri., and Sat., 5:00 p.m. Sun.. Tickets are $20.00 general, $10.00 for students with a current I.D. Tickets may be purchased online at www.mavericktheater.com, or by calling 714-526-7070.
The Maverick Theater is located at 110 E. Walnut, Fullerton, Calif., across from the Amtrak station in historic Downtown Fullerton.
