GLEE star and Broadway vet Lea Michele has been named spokeswoman for Candie's, the clothing brand sold in Kohl's department stores, according to E! Online.
Candies' was founded in 1981 with the now famous sexy, high-heeled wood bottom slide, called the 'Candie'. By the mid 1980’s, sales of Candie's slides soared to 14 million pairs. One out of every four women in America owned a pair of Candie's.
Best known to theatre audiences for her role as "Wendla" in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of SPRING AWAKENING, Michele was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical for that performance. She also appeared on Broadway in RAGTIME, LES MISÉRABLES and FIDDLER ON THE ROOF.
For her work on GLEE, Michele was honored with a Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Actress - Comedy or Musical and an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Michele was also recently nominated for a 2010 Teen Choice Award for Choice TV Actress: Comedy. In 2009, she was nominated in the Choice TV: Breakout Star Female category. Last night, Michele was awarded a People's Choice Award for GLEE.
Michele is expected to appear in a series of print ads similar to those done with previous spokespeople, including current rep Vanessa Hudgens as well as Britney Spears, Fergie, Hilary Duff, Jenny McCarthy and the Dixie Chicks.
