GAN-e-meed Theatre Project Celebrates The Launch Of Their First Season 11/9

By:

GAN-e-meed Theatre Project, founded to advance the role of women in theatre, will be celebrating the launch of their first season on Monday November 9th. The night also represents the beginning of a monthly Happy Hour for Women in Theatre where all women (and their supporters) are invited to discuss, network and debate about topics and proactive initiatives concerning the state of women in theatre.

GAN-e-meed Theatre Project's celebratory event is being held at Rocca, a thriving woman-owned bar/restaurant in the South End. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the founding board members, discuss GAN-e-meed's mission and season, and network with fellow artists. They will also be able to bid in the Cuppa Jane Silent Auction which lives up to its name by limiting bid increments to the amount of a cup of coffee.

Guests will be invited to return each month to a Happy Hour for Women in Theatre gathering to create ongoing dialogue of the state of women in theatre, discuss proactive initiatives for change, and create opportunities of collaboration and support.

Producing Artistic Director, SerahRose Roth, says, "I hope that this event will serve as an opportunity not just to celebrate our first season but to jump start dialogue in a very important under-addressed topic: gender equality within the theatre community."

GAN-?-meed Theatre Project is a new non-profit dedicated to advancing the role of women theatre in order to reduce unseen and unintentional gender bias and provide genuine career advancement opportunities for deserving artists. Professional performances of text-based, lyrical works of literature explore the relevant, intimate and visceral lives of characters and their stories through various woman-centered choices. GAN-?-meed's youth program also advances this philosophy of theatre. In addition to workshops and summer programs, oNe Youth actress is included in a main stage production every season to honor and advance the role of apprenticeship and learning through participation.
