Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance opens tonight, November 20, on Broadway. The production stars Glenn Close (returning to Broadway for the first time in twenty years), John Lithgow, Lindsay Duncan, Bob Balaban, Clare Higgins, and Martha Plimpton. The limited engagement of A Delicate Balance, directed by Pam MacKinnon, will run through Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street).

In A Delicate Balance, Agnes (Glenn Close) and Tobias (John Lithgow), a long- married couple, must maintain their equilibrium as over the course of a weekend they welcome home their 36-year-old daughter (Martha Plimpton) after the collapse of her fourth marriage, and give shelter to their best friends (Bob Balaban and Clare Higgins), all the while tolerating Agnes' alcoholic sister Claire (Lindsay Duncan).

GLENN CLOSE won Tony Awards for her performances in Sunset Boulevard, Death and the Maiden, and The Real Thing. She made her professional theatre and Broadway debut in Harold Prince's production of Love for Love. Her early stage credits include The Crucifer of Blood, The Singular Life of Albert Nobbs (Obie Award), the musical Barnum (Tony nomination), and Benefactors. Having appeared in more than 35 films, she is a six-time Academy Award nominee for her performances in The World According to Garp, The Big Chill, The Natural, Fatal Attraction, Dangerous Liaisons, and Albert Nobbs (which she also co-wrote and produced). She has produced nine movies for TV including the Sarah, Plain and Tall series for the Hallmark Hall of Fame. Ms. Close won a Golden Globe Award and two Emmy Awards for her performance on the TV series "Damages," and an additional Emmy Award for her performance in the title role in "Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story," which she also coproduced. She received a SAG Award for her performance as Eleanor in "The Lion in Winter." She appears in the feature film adaptation of Marvel Comics' Guardians of the Galaxy and in Low Down, opening in October. She recently completed filming on three additional features: 5 to 7, Anesthesia, and The Great Gilly Hopkins. Ms. Close cofounded Bring Change 2 Mind, an organization working to end the stigma surrounding mental illness.

JOHN LITHGOW is appearing on Broadway for the 22nd time. He has received six Tony Award nominations, winning twice for his performances inThe Changing Room and Sweet Smell of Success. Mr. Lithgow received back-to-back Academy Award nominations for his performances in The World According to Garp and Terms of Endearment. He has received 11 Emmy nominations and won six times - including three times for his portrayal of Dick Solomon on the NBC series "3rd Rock From the Sun," and once for his performance on "Dexter." Mr. Lithgow is the author of nineNew York Times bestselling children's picture books and a memoir,Drama: An Actor's Education, which focuses on his early life and career. Lithgow has appeared in more than 30 films. His most recent release is Love Is Strange, in theatres now, and he will next be seen on the big screen in Interstellar and The Homesman. He was most recently seen on the New York stage in the title role of the Shakespeare in the Park production of King Lear.
