Ars Nova presents, as part of the Out Loud series, a FREE reading of: 99 WAYS TO F*CK A SWAN by Kimberly Rosenstock and directed by Shira Milikowsky. The cast includes Amir Arison, Cassie Beck, Jesse Hooker, Jennifer Ikeda, Greg Keller, Natalia Payne, and Brian Sgambati.
In the beginning, Leda makes love to a swan. 3,000 years later, Michelangelo paints a picture. 350 years later, Rudolph impulsively buys it. Today, Dave and Fiona stand in a museum, gazing at what is left. In a world of bizarre romantic obsessions and everyday ineptitude, this epic comedy explores the dark corners of desire, and the eternal mysteries of love.
Kimberly Rosenstock is currently studying playwriting with Paula Vogel at the Yale School of Drama, where she is a recipient of the Eugene O'Neill Memorial Scholarship. Her other plays include In Search Of Stanley Hammer, Tigers Be Still, and Lone Pilots of Roosevelt Field. In addition to Ars Nova, her work has been developed by The Kennedy Center, The Old Vic in association with The Public Theater, New York Stage & Film and Vital Theatre. She is the Artistic Director of the 2009 Yale Summer Cabaret where she will produce several shows including Fly-By-Night, a new indie rock musical she is co-writing about star-crossed love and blackouts. In July she will be workshopping 99 Ways to F*ck A Swan at Portland Center Stage's JAW Festival. She has a BA from Amherst College where she first began writing plays under the mentorship of Constance Congdon. She is originally from Baldwin, Long Island.
Shira Milikowsky was the 2008 (and first ever) Ars Nova Director-In-Residence. Shira also received the 2008 Fall Drama League Directing fellowship, for which she directed the world premiere of Cookie Crumble by Elizabeth Meriwether, and the 2008 Boris Sagal Directing Fellowship from Williamstown, where she directed Big Money, a new musical by Kyle Jarrow and Nathan Leigh. Shira's production of Mourn the Living Hector by Paul Cohen was a critical hit at last summer's New York Fringe Festival and the recipient of a Fringe Excellence Award. She holds an MFA in directing from Columbia and a BA in theater studies from Yale.
