Frantic Assembly's Ignition Training Project Receives £90k from The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation
The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation has granted Frantic Assembly £89,907 over three years to deliver Ignition, a nationwide training programme for young men aged 16-20.
Through the Ignition project, Frantic Assembly wants to introduce its distinctive way of working to young men who might not have considered working in the theatre, but possess the crossover skills, energy and potential to be physical performers.
Ignition is an exciting opportunity for young men to work closely with Frantic Assembly and develop new skills in physical theatre, devising and performing.
Throughout September and October, Frantic Assembly will deliver free taster sessions and workshop auditions across the UK. A company of young men will be selected and brought together for an accredited five day intensive residency in London culminating in a public performance on the final day. Ignition will be delivered in partnership with National Theatre of Scotland, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Richmix, The Core at Corby Cube, West Yorkshire Playhouse, Hull Truck Theatre and Theatre Royal Plymouth.
Over 400 young men have taken part in Ignition activities since 2008, with 70 being selected to take part in the intensive productions. Over 1,000 people have been to watch an Ignition performance.
