Fox Valley Rep's Around the World in 80 Days Patrons Help Fight Disease

By:

Fox Valley Repertory has paired up with the two St. Charles Rotary Clubs to collect donations during Around the World in 80 Days performances to help fight Polio worldwide. Patrons will have the opportunity to contribute to the cause after each performance, now taking place at the Pheasant Run Resort Mainstage through July 31, 2011 (4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL; box office 630-584-6342).

The St. Charles Breakfast Rotary Club and The Noon Rotary Club of St. Charles have come together to help vocalize the need to help fund the eradication of polio around the world. Polio is a crippling and potentially fatal infectious disease that strikes children mainly under the age of five in countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Polio can cause paralysis and sometimes death. Because there is no cure for polio, the best protection is prevention. For as little as US $0.60 worth of vaccine, a child can be protected against this crippling disease for life. Historically, polio has been the world's greatest cause of disability.

"There is much hope and a global effort by Rotarians worldwide to help see this disease eradicated. This goal is within reach and we hope to see it accomplished within our lifetime," says St. Charles resident Scott Piner, President Elect of Rotary Club St. Charles and Fox Valley Rep's own Development Manager.

Fox Valley Repertory patrons can now help their campaign by making a cash donation after each performance of Around the World in 80 Days, an adventure comedy based on the classic Jules Verne novel that features five actors portraying 39 characters in seven continents. Proceeds will also benefit students in need so that all students in the Fox Valley community can have access to exploring their lives in the performing arts at Fox Valley Rep.

Around the World in 80 Days is now playing through Sunday, July 31, 2011. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; Sundays at 2 p.m. Thursday performances are available on June 23 and June 30 at 2pm. The show is rated PG. Tickets are priced at $29 on Fridays (and limited Thursday performances), and at $39 on Saturdays and Sundays. Dinner show packages are available from $49. Group rates and overnight packages are also available.

Pheasant Run Resort is located at 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL. For tickets, call the Pheasant Run Box Office at 630-584-6342 or visit www.ticketmaster.com.
