Foothills Stages 'Streetcar'

Raw, passionate and intense, Tennessee Williams' Pulitzer Prize winning drama, A Streetcar Named Desire, is not to be missed at the Foothills Theatre April 12 to May 4, 2008.

Lose yourself in the classic tale of Blanche DuBois, former school teacher and socialite, as she's forced to move in with her sister Stella and crude husband Stanley. But the fragile teacher quickly gets a gritty life lesson in the seamy, steamy underbelly of 1940's New Orleans. Jason Southerland, founding Artistic Director at Boston Theatre Works, is returning to Foothills to direct A Streetcar Named Desire.  Last season Mr. Southerland directed the smash hit Buddy and now is bringing his own unique interpretation to this American classic. Mr. Southerland's award winning design collaborators include, set designer Janie Howland, lighting designer Matt Guminski, costume designer Molly Trainer, and sound designer and composer Nathan Leigh.
 
The cast for A Streetcar Named Desire includes returning actors Dee Nelson in the role of Blanche, Jessica Webb as Stella, and Kevin Ashworth as Mitch. Making his Foothills debut is Brain Nemiroff in the role of Stanley. Presented by Unum, A Streetcar Named Desire will appear at Foothills Theatre April 12 to May 4. Other sponsors include Pulse Magazine, and WSRS. Tickets range in price from $32 to $35.  Student seats are $19 Groups of 20 or more save $10 per ticket.
