Flying Machine Productions Presents Minton Sparks, 6/2-12

Our New York summer will get started with a humid blast of music and rhythm from master Southern storyteller Minton Sparks, appearing for her first sitdown New York City run fresh from being awarded the 2011 Spoken Word Award by The Fellowship of Southern Writers. This was the first Spoken Word Award given in the 22-year history of The Fellowship.

Known for her albums Sin Sick, This Dress, and the recently released Live at the Station Inn, Minton has been carefully, quietly carving out a unique niche in the storytelling world for the last decade. There are no taboos and no holds barred in Minton's world, and family, faith, and failings all take center stage in her constantly evolving show. Her unique work as a 'speaker-songwriter' will be accompanied by guitarist John Jackson, who has performed alongside Bob Dylan and Shelby Lynne.
