'Fabulous Divas' To Play Final Performance On 4/19

The Off-Broadway musical FABULOUS DIVAS OF BROADWAY will play its last 2 weeks, with final performances taking place Saturday, April 19 (at 2&8PM) at St. Luke's Theatre (308 West 46th Street).  The cast includes Alan Palmer, accompanied by Curtis Jerome. The show previewed from February 13; opened February 27; final 2 weeks through April 19. Upon closing, the musical will have played 10 weeks (17 previews and 61 performances). What to do when you're a male performer with a big belting voice and an obsession with Broadway's greatest leading ladies, but no chance of being cast in women's roles?  If you're resourceful, you create your own musical!  On this unique, comic ride, actor/singer/storyteller Alan Palmer offers backstage tales of his life in "the business" while portraying larger-than-life stars as the show's guides.  In rapid succession – and a non-stop turnover of inventive costumes – he brings to life such legends as Ethel Merman, Carol Channing, Liza Minnelli, Angela Lansbury, Julie Andrews and Chita Rivera and such recent Tony winners as Christine Ebersole, Patti LuPone, Sutton Foster and Kristin Chenoweth, all while performing songs in each lady's singular style.  Beyond mimicry, beyond drag, FABULOUS DIVAS OF BROADWAY is a tongue-in-cheek musical experience that is both reverent and irreverent.  "The evening was made for fun," said The New York Times.  The musical, which prior to its 10-week Off-Broadway run played 5 months in L.A., will begin playing engagements across the country beginning in late spring, all details TBA.
